Attorney Vugar Jafarov, a native of Azerbaijan, emigrated to America in 2003 and is now a Naturalized Citizen of the United States.  This first-hand experience with the immigration process, enabled him to develop insight and expertise that is invaluable to the success of his clients.  

A dual LLM, Attorney Jafarov has obtained a master’s degree in Corporate Law from Ankara University and a Master’s Degree in Insurance Law from the University of Connecticut. Attorney Jafarov worked extensively in the compliance arena for a top multinational corporation for over 10 years.  As a compliance manager, Jafarov gained additional insight into compliance and operational needs for financial services firms across the globe.  

​Conducting a successful practice for the past 14 years, Attorney Jafarov has dedicated his expertise and experience to the application of immigration law.  Specializing in removal defense, employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant petitions, labor certification, waivers, and family-based immigration, Attorney Jafarov has a tremendous success rate in enabling his clients to obtain, change, and/or extend their non-immigrant visa status in the United States.

Mike DeRienzo joined our firm in 2024, specializing in immigration litigation and appellate litigation. He holds a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the States of New York and New Jersey, the Districts of Southern New York and Eastern New York, and all Immigration Courts.

Prior to joining our firm, Mike was a litigation attorney in New York City with a focus on Employment Litigation, Criminal Law, Immigration, Civil Rights, and Human Rights. He has appeared in front of courts all across the country fighting for his client’s rights in state and federal district courts and appellate courts. His decade of litigation experience enables him to effectively fight for clients in and out of the courtroom.

melih okan, J.D., Ph.D.

Business Immigration / Corporate / Intellectual Property Attorney

Melih Okan joined our firm in 2024, specializing in business immigration, intellectual property, and corporate law. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT and a J.D. from Boston University, bringing exceptional analytical skills and a unique ability to connect with clients from STEM backgrounds.

Prior to joining our firm, Melih spent over six years at Ropes & Gray, a top-tier American multinational law firm, focusing on intellectual property litigation. His expertise in simplifying complex technical concepts enables him to effectively advise corporate clients on protecting their brands through patents, trademarks, and copyrights, as well as guiding business immigration clients in presenting their cases to the USCIS.

Before his legal career, Melih conducted research in experimental atomic physics at MIT, where he developed one of the first quantum gas microscopes for fermionic atoms. This work serves as a natural simulation tool for complex physical systems, including strongly interacting matter and neutron stars.
